ALDOT announces road closure in Clay County

Beginning Monday, the Alabama Department of Transportation has announced they will close more than a mile of Alabama 49 north of Lineville as crews replace a pipe under the road.  The road will close at its intersection with Alabama 9 in downtown Lineville up to 1.4 miles north to the intersection of McVey Road. Through traffic heading north on the highway will be re-routed onto Alabama 9, and then west on McVey Road. Southbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse.  A press release from ALDOT said it expected the closure to take a week, but that work will be dependent on weather and other conditions.
