Gadsden man caught stealing power from church

A Gadsden man has been arrested after allegedly stealing electrical service from a Henderson Street church by stretching an extension cord from the power box at the back of the church to his residence on Grady Street.
The theft was discovered Saturday, when a man mowing the grass at the church in the Walnut Park area almost ran over the power cord while mowing and notified church personnel. The police found someone had damaged a chain link fence to get access to the power box.
They followed the cord to a house in the 300 block of Grady Street and the resident, a 41-year-old man, admitted stealing power from the church. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant while the investigation into the power theft continues
