Woman arrested after weekend standoff with police

A 48 year old Etowah County woman was arrested after a standoff Sunday evening with the Joint Special Operations Group..  Glenda Karen Camp, of Attalla, has been charged with misdemeanor charges   of third-degree domestic violence and one count of obstructing government operations..The incident occurred about 7 p.m. at a residence on Unity Church Road in the Duck Springs community.  Camp allegedly got into an argument with another female, who also lives at the residence, and threatened to kill her and her son. When Camp loaded a shotgun, the other female attempted to take it away from her. She was unsuccessful in her efforts to disarm Camp, causing her to flee the house into the woods, where she called 911.  Deputies arrived on scene and were unable to make voice contact with Camp. The joint special operations group was activated and Camp was safely removed from the residence two hours after the incident began.
Camp was taken into custody about 8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m.

Camp is in the Etowah County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
