Woman killed after striking Gadsden monument

The Etowah County Coroner confirmed that a young woman died saturday morning after crashing head on into the Emma Sansom monument at the intersection of First Street and Broad Street.
Michael Head says 18-year-old Jaquela Robinson was travelling at an estimated speed of 50 miles per hour when her 1989 Chevrolet S-10 truck struck the monument around 3:57 a.m. Saturday morning.
Robinson was riding alone and was reported to not be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The accident is still under investigation. There was no damage to the monument.
