Two men arrested on animal cruelty charges

Two Collinsville men have been arrested on animal cruelty charges in connection with an incident July 16 in which more than 20 malnourished dogs and the remains of five other dogs were found.
68 year old  William Allen Stewart,  and 51 year old Major Lavaughn Ford,  have each been charged with 19 counts of cruelty to animals, a Class A misdemeanor.
Both were released after posting $19,000 bond apiece.
Police last week found 22 malnourished dogs and the remains of five other dogs at a Gregory Avenue residence after investigating a complaint about an odor coming from the property.
