The investigation into the allegation began in October 2013,
when the Etowah County Sheriff's Department received a report that shots had
been fired in the Leeth Gap Cutoff Road area. Deputies investigated and
determined that Knight fired a gun at the victim, James Naylor, and several of
his family members.
Knight was charged with reckless endangerment. Nabors heard
the case Wednesday and returned a verdict of guilty. He sentenced Knight to the
maximum one-year sentence and ordered her to serve six months of that sentence
in the Etowah County Detention Center.
