Group challanges city of Glencoes christmas display

The organization that challenged Rainbow City's Nativity scene in December has sent a letter to Glencoe Mayor Charles Gilchrist, asserting that the city's Nativity scene, displayed during the Christmas season, also violates the U.S. Constitution.
Freedom from Religion Foundation Staff Attorney Andrew Seidel said Glencoe's display is “worse” than Rainbow City's, in his organization's view and interpretation of the law.
Glencoe City Attorney Jim Turnbach said he has not yet analyzed the letter and responded to it. Seidel said the FFRF was contacted by a concerned citizen in this case, as it was about Rainbow City's display. He said the organization was moving its offices last month, resulting in the delay in getting a letter out to Glencoe. He said he understands the display was removed after Christmas, and in this case, and in the Rainbow City case, the FFRF wants to assure that any displays at the cities next Christmas are constitutional.
