Three suspects in the murder of a missing Holly Pond man
have been charged with capital murder in his death.
According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey,
Stephanie Underwood, Matthew Thrasher and Christopher Jones were charged with
capital murder during the course of a robbery at 10 a.m. Friday.
Thrasher and Underwood are also facing theft of property
charges in connection with the car they allegedly stole from the victim. The
duo were found with the vehicle in Wisconsin after being arrested for
shoplifting vodka and energy drinks.
Jones had been charged with murder in the case, which was
upgraded to capital murder.
All three suspects are now being held without bond.
Casey said a transport company will be hired to transport
both suspects from Wisconsin in the coming weeks.
The three are accused of beating David Hayes with a
stick-like object or bat, and/or their hands and feet to cause injury to Hayes'
head.
Hayes' body was found Tuesday in the Pine Mountain area of
Blount County. Casey said information from another inmate in Wisconsin helped
authorities find where the body was located.
