Crystal Huie |
The Blount County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide
investigation after a 33-year-old woman was found dead inside her home. The victim, Crystal Huie, was found
unresponsive at her home in rural Blountsville on Friday, June 19, according to
Sheriff Loyd Arrington. Dispatch got a call and sent a deputy out to the house
on Dun Hill, and the deputy called for assistance. Huie had visible wounds, but
Arrington said they were not stabbing or gunshot wounds. Blount County Coroner
Mark Vaughn said Monday afternoon that a preliminary report shows the mother of
two died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Huie's sister, Bobbi Latham, said she found her sister dead in her
bedroom Friday afternoon after her mother could not get in contact with
her. Witnesses say Huie's boyfriend left
the home in a hurry Friday morning between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Investigators are in the process of searching
for Huie's boyfriend as he a person of interest in her murder. Sheriff Arrington said homicide
investigations are pretty rare in this area. Arrington said in his six years as
sheriff they've only investigated around eight homicides.
