Jon Paul Campbell |
Jon Paul Campbell, a name familiar in Etowah County Schools,
was hired Tuesday night as the system's director of personnel and
operations. Campbell replaces Personnel
Director Terry Foshee, who retired last month after 35 years. The move comes a day after Campbell was
removed as superintendent of Jacksonville City Schools. A statement by the
Jacksonville Board of Education said the move had nothing to do with job
performance or misconduct, but the board wanted to go in a different
direction. Campbell had worked for
Etowah County Schools for 25 years and was the system's assistant
superintendent for support services when he left in September 2010 to take the
superintendent's job in Jacksonville. Earlier that year, he was one of the two
top candidates for the Etowah County superintendent's position, which went to
Alan Cosby. Campbell served as a band
director and teacher at Hokes Bluff High School for 10 years and was assistant
principal at Gaston School for two years. He then served for nine years in the
system's central office as director of technology and student activities. He
was assistant superintendent for support services for four years.
