Lightning sparked an apartment fire early Tuesday morning
that displaced seven families in Rainbow City. Fire broke out around 5:30 a.m.
during a thunderstorm.
Officials say all seven families made it out of the building without any
injuries. At first, residents thought it was a small fire that could be
contained. But it spread quickly.
The Red Cross is providing hotel rooms
to the families for the next two nights.
Dogwood Apartments will have a place for each family to stay
after that as they are already preparing new apartments
on the site for the families
to move into.
