Depot employee killed in Afghanistan

A Talladega woman who was a Department of Defense civilian working in Afghanistan has been killed.

 The Department of Defense said 54-year-old Krissie K. Davis died Monday in an indirect fire attack on Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan.

 Davis, a civilian employee at  the Anniston Army Depot was deployed to DLA Disposition Services Bagram as part of the civilian expeditionary workforce.

Talladega Mayor Larry Barton said he and Davis were friends and he's been proud of her service.

 Davis' family will fly to Dover Air Force base on Thursday to receive her remains.

Barton said the city will be proud to honor Davis, possibly at their veterans park, at some point in the future.
