Birmingham UPS shooting involved St. Clair County man



A murder-suicide in Birmingham on Tuesday had implications in St. Clair County, where officials searched a house in Argo and schools were placed on lockdown in Springville.
A man who had been fired from UPS on Monday opened fire in a UPS service center in the Inglenook neighborhood near the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport, killing two men before turning the gun on himself. The gunman was wearing a brown UPS uniform when the shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m.
 the gunman was identified as 45 year old Joe Tesney.
In Springville, schools were locked down at about 10:30 a.m. for about 30 minutes.
St. Clair County Schools Coordinator of Facilities Phillip Johnson said an administrator at one of the Springville schools received a tip concerning a connection between the UPS shooting and a student or students at one of the schools there.
Later in the day, authorities including agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms searched Tesney's house in Argo
The St Clair County Sheriff's Office was also involved in the investigation.
