Jacksonville State University has chosen a team of men and
women to find a successor to President Bill Meehan, who’s retiring next year.
The team comprises university administrators, JSU trustee
members, the Student Government Association president and the Faculty Senate
president, and two representatives from the business community.
Trustee Ronnie Smith, who chairs the building and finance
committee and is a former regional Vice President for Alabama Power Company,
will chair the presidential search and screening committee.
The group’s first task will be to select a national firm
to help recruit the next university president.
The committee will be asked to provide a list of
candidates to the board in March and the university plans to name Meehan's
successor in April.
