A 19-year-old arrested for domestic violence and other
charges a week ago has been accused of making terrorist threats against the
officers involved in his arrest.
When officers were transporting Rodney Austin Watts, of
Rainbow City, to the Etowah County Detention Center, he allegedly told one
officer that he knew where he lived and said he was going to pay a visit to see
how the officer’s wife and children were. If they were OK, the man threatened,
according to the report, they wouldn’t be for long.
The man is
accused of making the same threats toward five other officers in the area, and
continuing to make threats until he was taken to the booking
area by Etowah County jailers.
Six officers made reports accusing the man of making
terrorist threats, a Class C felony, after the incident Sunday.
The man had been arrested
for third-degree domestic violence, interfering with a domestic violence
emergency, third-degree criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly
conduct and obstructing governmental operations.
