Glencoe man arrested following lengthly investigation

Victor Gray Dingler

A 33 year old Glencoe man is in the Etowah County Detention Center charged  with  first-degree sexual abuse.
Victor Gray Dingler,  was arrested after a criminal complaint  was brought by Homeland Security Investigations alleging that he took sexually explicit photos of a child that ended up being sent via Internet.
According to federal court documents, the investigation began in March 2013, when HSI in Birmingham received a series of images depicting the sexual molestation of a young girl by an adult man. The images originate from a website located by Danish National Police. One of the images depicted a University of Alabama blanket.
In September, HSI received a call from representatives of the Alabama Department of Education, alerting them it was possible the girl in the photographs had been located.
On or about Monday, HSI Special Agent Suzanne Prevatte and Etowah County deputies went to an Etowah County elementary school and identified a 7-year-old child there as the same one in the photos, using facial features, hair and eye color and dental characteristics. The girl said she was the one in the photos and she identified the man in the photos.
When the girl’s mother was interviewed, she also identified the man in the photos, and both she and the girl identified wood paneling that could be seen in the photos, indicating the photos were made at the man’s former residence in Etowah County. Various law enforcement databases gave investigators a current residence for the defendant in Glencoe.
