A Sylacauga man arrested Sept. 19 on an outstanding felony
warrant by deputies from the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department is facing
multiple charges.
According to Investigators , the warrant for 27-year-old
Shawn Matthew Hodges stemmed from first-degree robbery charges following an
incident within Childersburg Police Department’s jurisdiction.
Prior to his arrest near Old Birmingham Highway, Hodges
attempted to flee from law enforcement in a 1995 Chevrolet truck that had been
stolen from New County Line Road in
Sylacauga Sept. 16.
Upon interviewing Hodges, investigators learned the truck
wasn’t the only thing Hodges had recently stolen.
Among the items allegedly stolen by Hodges were a Ford
F-150 from Plantersville Road in Alpine
Sept. 8, a 2004 Rockwood pop-up camper from Logan Martin Dam Road Sept. 8, a
2001 white Chevrolet van from Desie Drive in Childersburg Sept. 13, and a
Yahama Big Bear ATV and Pioneer radio from New County Line Road Sept. 16.
Investigators said there were several tools in the back of
the vehicle Hodges was driving when apprehended, and the victims were able to
identify the tools.
The final tally for Hodges’s spree equaled three
first-degree theft of property charges, one second-degree theft of property
charge, one first-degree receiving stolen property charge, one unlawful
breaking and entering into a vehicle charge and one third-degree burglary
charge.
District Court Judge Jeb Fannin set Hodges’s bond at a
total of $80,000 for all charges.
