Blount County teacher indicted

A high school teacher in Blount County has been arrested and charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student. This is the second teacher from Blount County to be accused of similar charges within a few months.

A recent report shows that Alabama has the highest percentage of student and teacher sex scandals per capita in the nation. This past Tuesday, 37 year old Matt Wester was indicted and charged with having sexual contact with a student. The math teacher and coach has been on administrative leave since November when the investigation first began.

Also in Blount County, 28 year old Ashley Pruitt was arrested and charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors in November of 2014. Investigators say she was having a sexual relationship with three high school boys. Officials believe the behavior started in September.
