Brian Muenger |
The city council in Pell City unanimously approved Monday to
offer the cities vacant city manager’s job to current Talladega City Manger
Brian Muenger.
Three of the applicants who applied for the job currently
live out of state, but one of those candidates served as a city manager in
Alabama.
Those who applied for the job included former Anniston City
Manager Don Hoyt; Richard Tucker, of Pell City; Alan Grindstaff, of Maize,
Kansas; William Whitson, of Lynn-Haven, Florida; and former Pell City
Councilman Darrin DeLoach.
Muenger has served as the Talladega city manager for four
years. He also served two years as Talladega's assistant city manager.
Pell City will pay him more than what he is making with the
city of Talladega.
The city manager’s position has been vacant since October
2014 after former City Manager Patrick Draper resigned from the position.
Draper held the position for about two years before
resigning. The former city manager was paid $50,000 by the city council to serve
as a consultant for four months.
City officials said Draper’s annual salary was about
$105,000.
Draper initially was making about $80,000 but received a
substantial pay raise after he completed his first year on the job.
The council is required to approve the new contract with
Muenger once it is finalized and Muenger officially accepts the position.
