Earthlink laying off 241 workers in Anniston

Earthlink, a publicly traded IT services network and communications provider headquartered in Atlanta, is laying off 241 employees at its Anniston operation.

Company officials said Thursday that the layoffs  were necessary to realign according to their business plan and to enable the company's future success.  They say they expect the Anniston office will remain a core location moving forward.

 EarthLink employs more than 3,000 people nationwide.
