Commissioner Kenney Tidmore |
Officials say that Etowah County District 2 Commissioner
Kenney Tidmore
died Saturday night in a Birmingham hospital after a brief
illness.
Commission Chairman Larry Payne said Tidmores death is such a big loss for this county.
Tidmore, a Republican, was elected in 2012 and had served
two years of his four-year term. Sheriff
Todd Entrekin said he knew Tidmore, a long-time reserve deputy, long before he
was elected as commissioner.
Entrekin said. “He has done so much for his community. This
is a shock and a great loss.”
District 6 Commissioner Tim Choate said Tidmore worked hard
for his district and the county.
Tidmore retired in 2005 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
after 33 years. He also owned and operated the Noccalula Village Chevron.
The vacancy will be filled by an appointment from the
