Suspect in Gadsden shooting arrested in Georgia

Jeffery Allen Duckett

A 41-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Georgia on an attempted murder charge in connection with a shooting last year that left a Gadsden man hospitalized in critical condition.
Jeffery Allen Duckett was taken into custody in Georgia by U.S. Marshals and booked into the Etowah County Detention Center.
Duckett’s bond is set at $150,000.
Officers were called to the emergency room of a local hospital after a shooting victim was brought there by witnesses after 10:30 p.m. Nov. 29. The man had gunshot wounds to the leg, arm and side.
Witnesses told police they’d driven the victim to a residence in the 400 block of North Ninth Street, where he went inside for a brief time. As he came out of the residence and headed toward the vehicle where they waited, a man ran from the south side of the house toward the victim, firing a handgun at him.
As the victim fell to the ground, the suspect continued to charge at him, still firing the gun, as though he was trying to get a more accurate shot. The suspect ran in an unknown direction.
Witnesses grabbed the victim and took him to the emergency room, where reports indicate he was treated, then transferred to UAB Hospital.
