Two cyclists who were injured on Coldwater
Mountain at the same spot on different days this weekend were rescued by
Anniston firefighters. The first victim
was injured late Saturday morning, and taken from the scene by a medical
helicopter. The second victim was injured Sunday afternoon, and taken away by
Anniston EMS. Both accidents occurred at the same spot on Coldwater’s mountain
biking trails. The portion cyclists were injured on
is believed to be new, and that it may not technically be open to riders.
To reach the victims in the
mountain woods, Anniston firefighters drove small all-terrain vehicles equipped
with rescue gear. Working with other cyclists, rescue crews located the victims
and took them to a safe space to be taken from the scene.
