Race Fever raises $100,000 for Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind

Jeffrey Earnhardt and Ross Chastain, both drivers in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, raced each other on motorized coolers during the live auction at the 30th annual “Race Fever” fundraiser at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame’s Fox Sports 1 Dome Friday night.
Both drivers collided after Earnhardt crossed the unofficial finish line, eliciting laughs and smiles from the crowd of more than 800, who were on-hand to help raise money for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.
The collision was one of many highlights during a night that generated more than $100,000 for the institute.
Earnhardt, an avid supporter of the fundraiser for more than four years, spent the earlier portion of his day at Manning Hall, where he mingled with students and administrators.
More than 19 drivers, including NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Matt Kenseth, graced the stage to be interviewed by Motor Racing Network’s Steve Post before signing autographs for the students and race fans.
