Gadsden police are investigating a report from A Gadsden man
who said he was robbed just after 1 a.m. Wednesday on Eighth Street.
The man said he was driving by the American Legion when a
group of about nine men approached him and asked what he was selling. After
breaking open his inventory of Polo socks for the men to see, a couple of them
bought some socks as the rest of them gathered around him.
The man told police he got nervous when some of the group
told him they should just take his socks and his money. He took a few steps
back and the men jumped him. Two of them hit him in the head and face, while
three others held weapons on him and the others took his socks and money.
The victim got away from the group of men, jumped in his car
and left the area. According to the police report, he had a deep cut over his
left eye as a result of the encounter.
