Body in river identified

Investigators have identified remains found on the banks of Logan Martin Lake near Pell City as that of a Talladega man reported missing in January.  St. Clair County Deputy Coroner Mike Pepple said scientists with a Department of Forensic Sciences lab in Huntsville identified the man, 25-year-old Tywone Caldwell, through dental records.  Pepple said “The cause of death is consistent with drowning. Caldwell was reported missing after allegedly jumping from the Stemley Bridge Jan. 11.  Authorities said Caldwell was reported to have been in a vehicle in an argument with another person when The vehicle stopped on Stemley Bridge and the person tried to prevent Caldwell from getting out but did not succeed. The argument continued and Caldwell allegedly jumped.  Authorities said the body was found by a local fisherman March 5 in shallow water a few feet from the bank at The Yacht Club in Pell City, approximately two miles downstream of Stemley Bridge.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
