Funds raised in weekend event for injured Gadsden Officer

Sgt. Gary Pierce

More than 11 thousand dollars was raised for an injured Gadsden police officer. The money from a crossfit competition and auction will help Sgt. Gary Pierce cover his medical expenses from a motorcycle accident.  50 people participated in the crossfit competition at Brute Fitness Crossfit in Gadsden Saturday morning. They were asked to donate whatever they could.  Following the competition, there was an auction with 150 donated items from local businesses. Even more people came out and helped raise the money. Pierce remains in UAB Hospital. He was involved in an off duty motorcycle accident the previous weekend.
Pierce is a member of the Etowah County Drug Task Force.
