Hobson City man indicted on kidnapping charges

Randall O'Keith Morgan Jr.

A 23 year old Hobson City man has been indicted by a Calhoun county grand jury this week accused of stabbing his girlfriend while on a public bus last year and kidnapping the victim and her three children.  Randall O’Keith Morgan Jr., was served a warrant on Wednesday on four felony kidnapping charges and one count of domestic violence stemming from the Oct. 21 incident. According to police reports, Morgan stabbed his girlfriend, Katherine Pope, while on a Calhoun County Areawide Community Transportation System bus in the afternoon.  After the stabbing, the bus driver and all the passengers got off the bus, leaving only Pope and her three children, ages 3, 4 and 6. Morgan then took control of the bus, driving off with Pope and her children. Pope was later able to crawl to the front of the bus while Morgan was distracted and take his knife, according to police. He then fled the bus before she drove to Weaver, where she received help from passersby. She was later treated at Regional Medical Center.
