Burglar eludes police in Jacksonville

A burglary suspect was able to escape from a home in Jacksonville Tuesday morning following a standoff with law enforcement.  Police said the suspect, a black male wearing dark clothing and a bandana on his face, was attempting to rob a home on White Gaps Road around 10 a.m. while a second suspect waited in the driveway in a getaway vehicle.  The homeowner's father-in-law drove by the location and noticed the suspicious vehicle, prompting him to pull in to investigate. The getaway driver quickly sped off, leaving his parter inside the home as more relatives of the homeowner arrived at the location. Moments later, the burglary suspect exited the house armed with a gun and confronted the family members who were also armed.  One of the family members fired at the suspect and he fled back into the home.   At some point after the encounter with the homeowner's relatives, the suspect managed to escape undetected, fleeing the property on foot in an unknown direction.
