A man died in Gadsden on Wednesday night after a vehicle
dragged him across the Meighan Bridge. Police say the vehicle stopped in a restaurant parking lot
on the east side of the bridge about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The victim, 45-year-old Mathew Paul Goddard, was flown to
UAB where he died from his injuries. The driver, his 28-year-old neice, Keeley Jane Maddox, was charged with
DUI and booked into the Etowah County Jail.
Officials say additional charges may be filed in the case.
