18 year old injured in Gadsden Shooting

Gadsden police are investigating a shooting that injured an 18-year-old.
Police say the victim was walking down Avenue C  between North Ninth and North Eighth streets, heading east toward the American Legion, about 12:30 Thursday morning. He was wearing a mask, according to the report, and was armed with a pistol and possibly a shotgun.
Two cars, one possibly a dark blue Maxima, and two individuals on foot were traveling on Avenue C west from North Eighth Street toward the victim. The suspects began to shoot at him and the victim was able to fire one round at the suspects before a round struck him in the lower lip. The victim threw down his pistol and ran, according to the police report.
He was struck two more times in his upper right leg and continued to run toward a residence on Avenue E. He knocked on the door there — where a friend’s grandfather lives — and the grandfather opened the door and called 911.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Officers collecting evidence in the area found a bloody shotgun behind the residence on Avenue E and several 9mm casings in the road in front of the residence
