Chemical Endangerment arrest

Alexus Breanne Gaddy

Etowah County investigators arrested an Anniston woman for abusing drugs during her pregnancy.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Alexus Breanne Gaddy for chemical endangerment of a child.  Investigators said Gaddy exposed her unborn child "to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed."
Sheriff Todd Entrekin said Gaddy tested positive for opiates and benzodiazepine, and took methadone during her pregnancy.  Investigators said she admitted to taking morphine and valium the day she went into labor.
Since she is from Anniston, the Calhoun County Department of Human Resources is working on the case.
Gaddy's bond is set at $10,000, but she must give a negative drug test in order to be released from the Etowah County jail.
