A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday for the Shoppes at
Rainbow Landing development at the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Alabama
Highway 77.
The 45,600-square-foot Publix grocery store is expected to
open by next October. Officials say the
store will employ about 140 associates.
It will be the same size and follow the same prototype as
Publix's Guntersville store, which will open Nov. 19.
The development will have an additional 20,000 square feet
of retail space, and two outparcels — one just under an acre, the other 1.2
acres — that can be developed.
