Calhoun buglary suspect captured

Daniel Rich

Calhoun County authorities have arrested a man accused of leading investigators on an 18-mile chase in east Alabama and trying to run over the Weaver Police Chief.
Authorities found Daniel Rich on Spruce Avenue in Weaver on Wednesday morning, sitting in a friend's car to stay warm.
Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies say Tuesday's chase started in Ohatchee when a police officer checked out a burglary in progress yesterday afternoon. It ended in Weaver.
At least three schools in Alexandria and Weaver were on lockdown as the chase went through those areas.
The officer Rich allegedly tried to hit is Weaver Police Chief Wayne Bush.

Deputies also arrested 28-year-old Jenny Waldrop, who was in the car with Rich on Tuesday afternoon. She didn't try to escape after the chase ended.
