Authorities in Calhoun County say A Weaver man was killed
and a Jacksonville woman was critically injured in a single-car crash in
Piedmont Wednesday morning.
41 year old Patrick Lenn Brown, died after being thrown from his 1997 Nissan
Sentra, which overturned on the side of Maxwellborn Road near its intersection
with Alabama 21 some time around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
36 year old Deborah Gail Robinson, of Jacksonville was also thrown from the car
and was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham critically injured. According to
Alabama State Troopers, Brown was not wearing his seatbelt during the crash.
The car was headed south on Maxwellborn when the driver
failed to make the sharp turn approaching Alabama 21. The car struck a
guardrail, flipped, and landed on the other side. A passing driver spotted the
wreck at around 6 a.m. and called police.
