Gadsden man charged with animal cruelty

A Gadsden man received a citation last week after animal control officers found a bulldog on his property in deplorable conditions.
According to a police report, animal control received a complaint that a pet was being kept in a small cage that had the animal standing in mud and feces.
When animal control officers went to the home on Agricola Avenue, they found a bulldog standing in 3 inches of water mixed with mud and feces.
The dog house provided for the animal was a pet carrier with slots on the side. The carrier also had mud, water and feces inside it.
It was 28 degrees when animal control went to investigate the complaint. The pet carrier that was to provide shelter for the dog already had ice inside it and on top of it.
Animal control issued a citation for cruelty to animals and for the dog not having its rabies tag presented.
