A 47 year old Oxford man has been arrested in connection
with the online exploitation of a teenager.
Donald Jesse Swearingen, who lived at an address in
Eastaboga, has been charged with 8 counts of first degree sexually exploiting a
minor.
The investigation began a few months ago in Bethel, N.C., a
town of about 1,500 people in the state's Inner Banks region. Police began
looking after a teenager's parents contacted them.
Capt. L.G. Owens of Oxford police said investigators in
Alabama have also begun their own investigation.
Swearingen has been transported to North Carolina, where
additional charges could follow there.
Anyone with information that might help is asked to call the
Oxford Police Department's Tip-line at (256) 835-6122. Tips can be left
anonymously.
