Hokes Bluff police investigate Social Media Posting

Hokes Bluff police say they have investigated a social media posting that attracted a great deal of attention locally, and found no evidence it was truthful.
The Police Department received a number of calls after a Facebook posting on Valentine’s Day by a woman who indicated she had shot two dogs that got into garbage at her residence.
A screen shot of the posting reads: “Just now kill the Dog’s no more dog in our yard no more getting our trash grr R.i.p dogs ha ha.”
Police say the post  went viral. The posting was shared on a group page, which disseminates information about local missing pets.
Officers tracked down the woman who made the post and talked to her, and to a male companion she implicated in the claimed incident. She apparently was angry about dogs getting into garbage and made the post.
She told police she didn’t shoot any dogs and they found nothing to indicate an animal had been shot. No dogs were reported missing from the area.
When people commented, police said, pride wouldn’t let her stop arguing with them via Facebook.
She attempted to look tough on the computer, which quickly backfired on her, according the Hokes Bluff Police Department Facebook page. “Instead of admitting her bad decision, she continued to push the issue, until law enforcement was involved. Officers located no evidence at the residence to give credit to her claims, although there were other violations that were observed on the property, which are being addressed, and will not be made public.”
