Anniston Shooting

Anniston police say a man shot another man who had earlier attempted to steal from him.  Police say Tony Brown has been charged with attempted murder following the incident which happened Friday. Officers responding to a shots fired call on Legarde Avenue Friday eventually found Jerry Gaddis Jr. at the intersection of Palmetto Avenue and Alabama 202. Gaddis was suffering from a gunshot wound in the torso.  Police arrested Tony Brown, who had a firearm in his possession. Gaddis was taken to a local hospital.  Investigators say the altercation between the two men began at the Kangaroo service station on Legarde Avenue. Based on security footage from the station, along with eyewitness statements, police believe Gaddis was attempting to steal money from Brown inside the service station.  Gaddis attempted to flee the area on foot when Brown followed him. The pursuit continued for several hundred feet, with Brown firing his weapon at Gaddis until he struck him.  Theft charges against Gaddis are still pending.
