Teen killed in Eastaboga house fire

A Saturday morning fire has claimed the life of an East Alabama teenager.
According to the Oxford fire department, 13 year old Apryl Gabrielle Laureano, who attended Oxford Middle School, was killed when her family's trailer caught fire early Saturday morning. Fire crews were called to scene on Marie Anne Drive at 5:14 a.m.Saturday morning.  According to Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks, Laureno's mother, stepfather, brother and sister were all able to escape, but the 13-year old was trapped inside.  Sparks said The fire was actually in the middle part of the trailer and the fire actually blocked her from the exit.  Firefighters cut a hole in the side of the trailer and were able to get to Laureno that way, however, it was too late.  The rest of the family was transported to the hospital. Sparks said the mother and two other children were treated and released, but the stepfather was admitted.  According to the chief, the state fire marshal's office and the Oxford Police Department are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.  Right now it has been classified as "undetermined but not suspicious."
