Snead State closes campus today amid online threat

Snead State Community College has cancelled classes today due to a threat of a shooting that was posted online.   According to a statement from the school, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating the threat. Birmingham police notified the school on Wednesday of an online threat on an anonymous message board.  The threat read, "RIP to all the people that died in the Snead State Community College shooting in Alabama on 10/19/15."  According to the school, Birmingham police's criminal intelligence unit told the school the threat showed up through the work of an area "Fusion Center," which notifies authorities of online threats. Investigators then notified the director of security at Snead State Community College as well as Boaz police.
