Robber claiming to have explosives robs Gadsden business

A man robbed a business Tuesday in Etowah Crossing shopping center on Gilberts Ferry Road claiming to have an explosive device.
The robber fled the scene, but the Gadsden Police Department’s bomb squad responded as precaution and was on the scene for some time before an “all clear” was given.
According to Gadsden Police a light-skinned black male robbed the store about 10:50 a.m. His face was concealed with a gauze-like material and he had what appeared to be an injury to his face.
After he fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money, the bomb squad was called in. The suspect, described as 5 foot 9 inches tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, fled in a full-size red or maroon pickup heading toward Attalla.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gadsden Police Department’s Detective Division at 256-549-4629.
