A Talladega man and a Munford man were both killed in
separate single-vehicle crashes Friday evening.
Alabama Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel identified the Talladega
man as 39 year old Byron Covett Hammonds.
Daniels said “He was
killed when the 2007 Suzuki motorcycle he was operating struck a deer and
caused his motorcycle to leave the roadway.
“Hammonds was pronounced dead at the scene, on Plant Road five miles
west of Talladega.”
Daniel identified the Munford man as 59 year old Willie Lee
Whitson.
Daniels said “Whitson was killed when the 2011 Ford Ranger
he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment. “He was not wearing a
seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, on Stockdale Road five miles
northeast of Talladega.”
Both accidents are still under investigation.
