Man arrested after standoff with police

A 57 year old Anniston man is charged with domestic violence following an hours-long standoff in Oxford Monday morning.

A woman inside of a home located near Scott Lane and Jason Drive in the Trinity Heights neighborhood ran to a neighbor's house after Donald Edward Reese of Anniston barricaded himself inside of her home with a rifle, according to Capt. L.G. Owens of the Oxford Police Department.

Once she was at the neighbor's house, she called police at 12:46 a.m.saying she and Reese got into an argument and he refused to leave her house and made threats against her with the gun. The two are in a relationship.

Owens said the man surrendered without incident after police asked him to come out of the home using a robot.

The standoff lasted seven and a half hours..

Reese will be held for a mandatory 12 hours before he can post a $100,000 bond.

He is expected in court on Nov. 10.
