Gadsden Fire Department investigators say a fire in an
unoccupied dwelling on South Sixth Street is being investigated as a case of
arson.
The fire, which occurred around 2 a.m. June 12, caused about
30 percent damage to the residence. Based on the burn patterns found in the
home, investigators say they believes the fire was set. Investigators believe
there were multiple set fires and more spots in the residence where someone
tried to start fires that didn’t burn. From the evidence, whoever set the fire
intended to do far more damage than was done.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the
fire to contact the Gadsden Fire Prevention Bureau at 256-549-4572.
