Low turnout predicted for todays primary
Alabama election officials are expecting more than 700,000 voters to turn out for todays primary election. Secretary of State Jim Bennett is predicting that 25 to 27 percent of Alabama's 2.8 million registered voters will turn out today. That prediction is down 32 percent from four years ago. This is the first election where all voters will be required to show a photo ID. Forms of acceptable identification include a driver's license, non-driver ID, Alabama voter ID or passport. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Races not decided in todays primary will advance to a runoff July 15.
