Etowah county school officials say that Two new schools
should be ready for students on the first day of school on Aug. 7. Final inspections are due on July 8 for
Glencoe and Duck Springs elementary schools, both built to replace 1930s-era
schools. The Etowah County Board of
Education heard an recently received an update from Construction Manager Joe
Maddox. Maddox said Duck Springs is a little
further along than Glencoe, and finishing touches are being done at both sites. Both schools have the same projected

Superintendent Alan Cosby said As soon as final inspections are done, the
moving can begin,. Teachers start Aug.
4. Cosby said dates for ribbon cuttings
are not set, but he anticipates events will be scheduled closer to the start of
school. Both schools had significant
structural issues and it was necessary to tear down the old buildings and build
new ones.
