Anniston school consolidation may be delayed

The Anniston Board of Education could delay until next summer its plan to close two schools this year.

During the board's Tuesday work session, board attorney Burgin Kent recommended the members postpone their plan to close Cobb Elementary and Constantine Elementary until the summer of 2016. Kent said that by the time a federal judge approves the closing plan, there won't be enough time to fully inform parents where to send their kids before the new school year starts in August.
