The Talladega City Board of Education and superintendent
heard dozens of concerns from parents, teachers and students about poor
technology in schools, no alternative school and a lack of certified
teachers. Superintendent Dr. Donna King
says the district’s problems have been exaggerated. Parents, however, disagree. Parents say There has been a mass exodus of
teachers and staff. Right now, there are
48 openings posted on the Talladega city schools website. King says some of those positions have been
filled, leaving 22 openings right now. The district is actively recruiting new
employees through area universities.
