A young Piedmont couple is in jail in Atlanta as their 3-
month-old baby recovers in a Georgia hospital.
The child's father, 22-year-old Mark Anthony Williams, and
mother, an unnamed 16-year-old, will be charged with child abuse and neglect.
Police say the two were living in a
Piedmont hotel. The charges
are because of conditions related to malnutrition and the
couple's failure to seek medical help for the baby.
The parents brought the baby to an Atlanta area hospital for
treatment, and
after that, Piedmont police received a report from that
hospital March 15 about the child's treatment.
The couple has another child who is now in the custody of a
child protective
service-type agency in Georgia.
The couple were arrested on Thursday in Dekalb County,
Georgia, by members of the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, and
taken to a nearby jail where they await extradition to Alabama
